Der Geruch, die Farben!<br \/>\nDie Tr\u00e4nen laufen mir \u00fcbers Gesicht.<br \/>\nMir zittert die Hand, kann die Feder kaum halten, kleckse rund ums Tintenfass!<br \/>\nEin Schuss und alles, alles anders!<br \/>\nUnd da sind fragende Gesichter, gaffende M\u00fcnder, l\u00fcsterne Blicke: und jetzt? Das fragen sie alle,<br \/>\ndie lieben Nachbarn.<br \/>\nJa, jetzt was?<br \/>\nEs beginnt f\u00fcr mich mit einem Schuss? Warum das Vater?<br \/>\nDu hast alles so klug geregelt, Vater! Warum jetzt das?<br \/>\nWilhelm, ist voll Schrecken! Berta \u2013 die zarte junge Verlobte \u2013 weint. Beide fragen, ob wohl noch jemand in die Apotheke kommt, in die Apotheke eines Selbstm\u00f6rders! Ihre Zukunft h\u00e4ngt davon ab.<br \/>\nEr war s\u00fcchtig, sagen einige; er war verr\u00fcckt, sagen andere. Er wollt nicht mehr allein ohne Frau leben, versuchen einige zu verstehen.<br \/>\nWarum das Vater? Weil ich gehen will? Nein! Du hast es mir doch selbst geraten: \u201eEmmie, hier in Friedland kannst Du Deinen Traum nicht verwirklichen und Komponistin werden! Geh hinaus, geh nach Stettin!\u201c Seit f\u00fcnf Jahren, seitdem August dort seine Apotheke hat und den Kompositionslehrer Loewe kennenlernte, uns von ihm erz\u00e4hlte und von ihm als einem bedeutsamen Manne schw\u00e4rmte, seitdem sagtest Du Vater, dort solle ich lernen und meinen Traum erf\u00fcllen!<br \/>\nBerta w\u00e4re dir doch eine ebenso gute Hilfe im Haushalt, wie ich es bisher war. Es war alles so froh gestimmt und geplant. Was hast Du getan? Nun kommst Du au\u00dferhalb des Friedhofs zu liegen. Vater!<br \/>\nKann ich denn jetzt gehen?
